Costa Rica Housing & Homestay

Providing housing that is clean, comfortable and convenient is vitally important while you're studying abroad. It's also one of the most important ways we can help ensure a good experience for you during your Sol Abroad program.

Homestay

Each of our programs offers a homestay with a local Sol Abroad host family. This is the best way to experience true immersion (language and cultural) while abroad. We've found that many of our students call their homestay "the single most enriching and lasting part" of their journey. Our students often maintain relationships with their host families for years following the conclusion of their program. So it's easy to understand why our host families form such an essential part of our team! To ensure quality and safety, we carefully select and personally interview host family applicants. We require them to have prior hosting experience and references. This ensures we make the optimal match for you when you're studying abroad.

Our Commitment:

We strive to provide the richest cultural experience possible and realize that your housing while abroad is an integral part of the experience. After acceptance into our program we will provide you with a Housing Questionnaire in order to learn about your specific housing needs, such as if you may require vegetarian or kosher meals. Once in country, your Sol Abroad onsite director will immediately address any issues you may have with your housing. We want living with a host family to be a positive experience for you! The cultural growth you will experience by living with a host family is truly unmatched.

Here's some of what you can expect:
